KS and the world

As a successful company, we are deeply rooted in society and feel a strong sense of responsibility toward others. That’s why each year, we donate a portion of our gross profit to the KS Foundation.

The goal of the foundation is to help underprivileged people regain financial independence and offer them a hopeful future. The foundation is led by an independent board that selects projects to support each year, both in the Netherlands and abroad. The KS Foundation is active locally and internationally—focusing on the Moerdijk region in the Netherlands, and funding projects in East Africa abroad. You can find more information about the KS Foundation at www.ksfoundation.nl.

In the past, KS Industries—then still known as Kontinex Staal—initiated and supported development projects in Indiaand Ethiopia. One of the key outcomes was the establishment of a profiling factory in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia, where hydroform blocks also were produced. These materials were used to build homes.

KS management and staff were directly involved in setting up the factory and training local workers. They ensured that operations could eventually be run independently. Today, the company operates under the name Ethiopian Steel Profiling and Building Company and has been running independently for some time.

The initiative has created local jobs and opened up opportunities for people to continue their development through education. To help make this possible, KS supported the founding of the Interlakes International School, which provides English-language education. Children from Debre Zeit and the surrounding area now attend the school, which has since become self-sufficient.
